About Elsa Hedberg

DESIGN PRACTICE

“ I find it important to look for materials that are earth and human friendly – my bioresin is based on sunflower seed oil, the silver I use is recycled and I look for stones that have traceable origins. Lastly, I love jewellery’s ability to bring its owner closer to themselves, with this in mind I study symbolism through the ages as well as modern ways of identifying with a certain style and incorporate this into every new idea.”

With her latest pieces, Elsa Hedberg draws inspiration from her own life, where recently the amulet has played a central part. After bringing herself back from work fatigue, the need had grown for having a precious artefact close to hand which, charged with its intrinsic inspiration, could work as a reminder of one’s personal strength. A sort of private power tool.

Elsa Hedberg studied goldsmithing at the Copenhagen Technical Academy and has a BA in jewellery design from Sir John Cass Department of Art, Media & Design in London. After graduation she has earned experience with several important names within the industry, and exhibited her work all over Europe. Since 2013, she lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden.
